Alcove - Launched by Lyft

You can probably remember a journey where you arrived and suddenly realized you didn't have to think about a single thing. Someone had thought about all of it for you instead.

And you only noticed afterward.

Chauffeurs have been giving travelers that experience since the late nineteenth century. It's personal work. A good chauffeur is six steps ahead of you. A great one is six steps past that, anticipating things you have not yet realized you need.

Technology can move enormous numbers of people, but it has a hard time making anyone feel uniquely cared for. Lyft set out to create a new class of chauffeuring services that combines high-touch service with a world-class passenger experience. Building on TBR Global Chauffeuring, a network with thirty years of extraordinary service, they invited COLLINS to help bring this ambition to life, creating an entirely new brand from the ground up.

We had to keep many people in mind at once. The CEO of a Fortune 50 company getting into a car at six in the morning. Their assistant, who has to be sure everything is right. Their travel manager, who needs ground transportation that works the same in every time zone. But getting all of that right was table stakes.

Traditionally, a chauffeured car has been something you wait for. We wondered what it would be like if a whole world were waiting for you, instead. We pictured a service that gets to know you better over time. You mention a preference once, and you never have to mention it again. The standards hold in every city, at any hour, whether you rode last week or last year. It becomes a place you can return to wherever you are. Across the identity, the language, and the experience itself, we worked toward a world of abundant restraint.

Together, we named it Alcove: a deliberate recess, a space apart from the noise of everything else, made ready for your arrival.

A great chauffeur is a host who happens to be moving. Always sensing what a moment is asking for, just before you would have asked yourself. The car is already at the temperature you like. The route is the one you would have chosen. The music you love is already playing. Warm and restrained, graceful and precise, moving between them as each moment requires.

What happens when it works is simple. Your shoulders come down. Your day loosens its grip. You realize everything has been taken care of and nothing has been left to chance.

Alcove arrives in early 2027.

And wherever you go, it will be ready for you.
